Hayward Gold was privileged to be appointed as Principal Contractor and Design & Build partner for the construction of an architecturally significant residential development, nestled within a designated conservation area in the historic heart of Reading. This ambitious project required a harmonious fusion of past and present; blending contemporary living with the architectural heritage of its surroundings.

From inception to handover, we assumed full responsibility for the orchestration of design, procurement, and construction. Central to the scheme was the sensitive incorporation of a retained heritage façade into a wholly new structure, a task demanding not only technical precision, but architectural creativity. In close collaboration with our expert consultants, we succeeded in crafting a building that pays homage to its storied context while confidently asserting its own contemporary identity.

The façade, clad in elegant brickwork, evokes a sense of permanence and quiet dignity, while the interiors are appointed to an exacting standard, boasting bespoke finishes, refined material palettes, and an unerring attention to detail throughout.

Complementing the main building, we also delivered a purpose built car park and associated highways works that were essential to the development’s functionality and thoughtfully integrated into the existing urban fabric. These infrastructural elements were designed to be as unobtrusive as they are effective, ensuring ease of access without compromising the project’s architectural coherence.
